Adventures in the
Åsele area
This is our home!
Åsele is the “capital” of the municipality with the same name and is located in the Swedish region Västerbotten. Åsele has around 1700 inhabitants and the entire municipality, with 4500 km2, has around 1000 more inhabitants. That means 0.67 inhabitants per km2! These numbers mean an unbelievable area to explore nature and animals in a grandiose landscape. The municipality is geographically located in southern Lapland.
Åsele has no less than 58 nature reserves and a national park that is waiting to be discovered. Over 500 lakes and numerous rivers invite you to swim, canoe, fish or hike. The northern lights, reindeer, elk, giant pike and trout, berries, mushrooms and of course our wonderful huskies from the Husky Kennel Lapland are some more highlights. But you can also be in the wild and beautiful mountains that are only a 2 hour drive away. Or reach the sea in 2 hours with the many offshore islands and fine sandy beaches. So-called theme routes such as the unique Swedish Wilderness Route, the Legend Route, the Art Route of the 7 Rivers and others lead to the most beautiful attractions.
Åsele is a year-round travel destination. You will enter a different world every season. In the winter you can go husky sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or skiing, or build an igloo. In the summer, you can go swimming, canoeing, fishing, picking berries and mushrooms. In the autumn, when the leaves conjure up an unexpected color dream, go on a hike and discover the nature reserves or spend the night in one of the many log cabins out in the wilderness.
