Igloo Workshop

Igloo Workshop

How do you actually build an igloo, how can such a dome be really stable, and how warm is it really when you spend the night in it? All these questions and many more will be answered at our igloo workshop while a real and original igloo is built! When the Inuit build an igloo, hard wind-pressed snow is used, which is cut out of the snow surface in the right size. We, on the other hand, use the ingenious ice box so that it also works with our snow, which is different. We need wet snow, which means: If you can form a snowball, then the snow is suitable. So our igloo workshops mainly take place from March. But of course, depending on the snow conditions, it can also be possible earlier. We build igloos with a diameter of around 2 meters, which are intended for 2 people. The body heat alone keeps the inside warm enough to sleep well.

We usually build the igloos in the Myra behind our camp. We can also build an igloo at a location of your choice! Just ask when booking. If you would like to spend the night in the igloo, you can rent suitable  winter sleeping bags and sleeping pads from us.
